What you pay separately
Only if your clients pay online. Online payments run through your own Stripe account, and Stripe charges its standard processing fee on each payment. PaperForeman adds nothing on top.
Payments by your own link, check or cash cost nothing through PaperForeman. Stripe’s fees come out of each payment before it reaches your bank.

The free trial, in plain words
You get 14 days free with everything turned on. You add a card to start the trial. Nothing is charged until day 15, and we email you on day 11 and day 13 so it’s never a surprise. Cancel before then and you pay nothing.
Canceling
Go to Billing, tap Manage subscription, then Cancel. No phone call, no form. You keep everything until the end of the month you paid for. After that your account is read-only: your data and PDFs stay, and you can restart any time.
Questions before you start
Is my data safe?
Every page runs over an encrypted connection, and your data and files are encrypted where they’re stored. Files open through short-lived private links. Each company only ever sees its own data. Card and bank details go straight to Stripe; PaperForeman never sees or stores them.
Are e-signatures legal?
Yes. In the U.S., the federal ESIGN Act and the UETA (adopted by almost every state) treat an electronic signature like a handwritten one for most business paperwork. PaperForeman records the signer’s consent, name, email, time, IP address and device, and seals the PDF with a SHA-256 fingerprint on a signature certificate. This isn’t legal advice: have your attorney review your change order terms.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Nothing gets deleted. When your paid time runs out, the account turns read-only: you can still sign in, look everything up and download your PDFs. Sending and reminders stop. Restart your plan from Billing any time and pick up where you left off.
Do I have to use Stripe, or can I use my own payment link?
Your choice, per invoice. Connect Stripe in a few minutes (Settings → Payments) and clients pay by card or bank transfer right on the invoice. The money goes to your Stripe account and Stripe’s fees apply: about 2.9% + 30¢ for a card, 0.8% capped at $5 for a bank transfer. PaperForeman takes no cut. Or paste your own payment link, or show check and cash instructions. You can offer all three.
Do my clients need an account?
No. They get an email with a link. They read, sign or pay on their phone or computer. No app, no password, nothing to download.
Can my office manager log in too?
Yes. Invite as many people as you want from Settings → Team. Each person signs in with their own email. They can write change orders, send invoices and manage subs. Only the owner can change company settings, payments and the team.
Does it text my clients?
Not yet. Everything goes by email: to your clients, your subs and you. Texting isn’t built, so we don’t sell it.
When is QuickBooks coming?
There’s no QuickBooks connection today, and we won’t promise a date. Every invoice and payment is in PaperForeman with a PDF you can download for your books. When a real connection ships, it will be listed here.
